Description

Rear Shock Absorber – a hydraulic telescopic damper for the rear suspension of coil-sprung vehicles without Active Cornering Enhancement (ACE).

Mounted between the rear axle and chassis alongside the coil spring, it damps spring oscillation to control body movement, keep the tyres in contact with the road and stabilise ride and handling. This is the non-ACE specification, for vehicles not fitted with the ACE active anti-roll system.

Worn dampers allow excessive body float and uneven tyre wear; shock absorbers are replaced in axle pairs to keep damping balanced side to side.
