Parking Aid Sensor – ultrasonic transducer for the Parking Distance Control (PDC) system, mounted through the rear bumper cover. Straight-bodied type with an in-line connector.
The transducer emits a short ultrasonic burst and then listens for the reflected echo. The parking aid control module measures the elapsed time, converts it to an obstacle distance and drives the audible warning accordingly. The sensors operate as an array, so a single failed or water-ingressed transducer can degrade or disable the whole system; faults are therefore diagnosed to the individual sensor rather than to the system as a whole.
The sensor is a push-fit into a retaining collar bonded to the bumper cover. Note the fitted orientation before removal, and keep the transducer face clear of paint, wax or road film – a coated face attenuates the ultrasonic signal and shortens the detection range.
