Intermediate Exhaust Silencer with Catalyst – the centre section of the exhaust system on 4.0L and 4.6L V8 petrol applications.

It sits between the front downpipe assembly and the rear silencer, combining the catalytic converter and the intermediate silencer box into a single unit. It carries exhaust gas rearward while reducing gas-flow noise ahead of the tailpipe section.

The assembly is located by the flanged joints at each end and by the exhaust system rubber mountings, which are worth inspecting whenever this section is renewed.
