Accelerator Cable for the throttle control linkage, connecting the accelerator pedal to the engine’s throttle mechanism.

The cable transmits pedal movement to the throttle linkage – opening the throttle butterfly on petrol engines, or moving the injection pump control lever on diesel applications – so driver input is translated directly into engine speed. A worn or stretched cable gives a vague or sticking pedal and is renewed as a complete assembly.
