ABS Wheel Speed Sensor – Rear, part of the anti-lock braking system on the rear axle.

The sensor reads the toothed exciter ring on the hub and signals wheel rotational speed to the ABS control module, which uses the data to detect impending lock-up and modulate brake pressure accordingly. A failed or contaminated sensor typically illuminates the ABS warning lamp and disables anti-lock function on the affected wheel.
