Description

Exhaust Valve for the cylinder head valvetrain of the 3.5 V8 petrol engine.

The exhaust valve opens to release burnt gases into the exhaust port and seals the combustion chamber during the compression and power strokes. It runs in a pressed-in valve guide and seats against the machined insert in the head. It works at far higher temperature than the inlet valve and sheds most of its heat through the seat face and the guide, so seat contact and stem clearance are critical to valve life.

Dimensions: head diameter 34.25mm, stem diameter 8.57mm, overall length 117mm.

Exhaust valves are normally renewed as a set during head reconditioning. Lap each valve to its seat on fitting and check stem-to-guide clearance.
