Description

Rear ABS wheel speed sensor, part of the anti-lock braking system’s wheel speed sensing circuit. Catalogued under a sensor kit part number; the assembly is the speed sensor with its integral lead and connector.

The sensor locates in the rear hub carrier and reads the toothed exciter ring on the hub, supplying the wheel speed signal the ABS control module uses to detect impending wheel lock and modulate brake pressure at that wheel.

One sensor is fitted at each rear wheel. Sensor faults are normally reported as an ABS warning lamp with a stored wheel speed signal error. The sensor tip and its seat in the carrier should be cleaned of corrosion and debris before a new unit is fitted.
