Description

Brake Pad Wear Sensor – front brake pad wear warning wire, part of the front disc brake friction-monitoring circuit.

The sensor wire clips into the front brake pad and connects to the brake harness. As the friction material wears down to its service limit the conductor loop inside the sensor is abraded through, breaking the circuit and raising the brake pad wear warning at the instrument pack.

The loop cannot be restored once it has worn through, so the wear sensor is renewed whenever the front pads are replaced.
