Split Pin used throughout the chassis, steering and driveline assemblies as a positive locking fastener.

The pin is passed through a cross-drilled hole – typically in a castle nut, clevis pin or shackle – and its two legs are splayed back against the component to prevent the nut or pin from rotating or working loose under vibration. It is a single-use fastener and should be renewed whenever the joint it secures is disturbed.
