Coolant temperature transducer for the 3.9L V8 EFI petrol engine, part of the engine management sensing circuit.

Threads into the coolant passage at the inlet manifold and reports coolant temperature to the engine control unit, which uses the signal to enrich fuelling during warm-up and to correct the mixture once the engine reaches operating temperature.

A failed or drifting transducer typically shows up as poor cold starting, uneven idle and raised fuel consumption.
