Thermostat for the 4.4L V8 BMW M62 engine cooling circuit.

Sited in the thermostat housing on the engine, this component regulates coolant flow through the cooling circuit. It remains closed during engine warm-up to bring the coolant to operating temperature quickly, then opens to allow hot coolant to circulate to the radiator.
