Description

Cylinder Head Gasket seals the joint between the cylinder head and the engine block.

It contains combustion pressure in each cylinder while keeping the coolant passages and oil galleries that cross the head-to-block face separate and leak-free. This is the non-multilayer (composite) type for the 1.8L K Series petrol engine, as distinct from the multi-layer steel design.

Renewed whenever the cylinder head is removed, or when a head gasket failure causes loss of compression or crossover of coolant and oil.
