Description

Exhaust Gasket for the flanged joint between the exhaust front pipe and the catalyst section.

It seals the bolted flange where the front pipe meets the catalyst and after-treatment section of the exhaust system, downstream of the turbocharger and exhaust manifold. The gasket is compressed as the flange is tightened and should be renewed whenever the joint is separated, since a disturbed gasket will not re-seal reliably.

A failed joint at this point allows exhaust gas to escape ahead of the silencer and is usually heard as a blowing or rasping noise under load.
