Crankshaft Damper mounts on the nose of the crankshaft and forms part of the front-end accessory drive on the Td5 2.5L 5-cylinder turbo diesel.

Its bonded rubber element absorbs the torsional vibration produced by the crankshaft’s firing pulses, protecting the crankshaft and timing components from fatigue, while the integral pulley drives the auxiliary belt. A perished or delaminated damper lets torsional vibration pass into the engine and should be replaced.
