Description

Baulk Ring (synchroniser ring) for the LT85 four-speed manual gearbox, 3.5L V8 petrol.

The baulk ring forms the friction cone of the synchromesh. As a gear is selected the ring is pushed against the cone of the target gear, matching shaft and gear speeds before the dog teeth engage so the shift is smooth and clash-free. A worn baulk ring is a common cause of crunching on the affected gear.
