Description

Hydraulic Timing Chain Tensioner for the 2.25L and 2.5L four-cylinder petrol engines, mounted behind the front timing cover on the slack side of the timing chain.

It bears against the tensioner blade to keep the timing chain under correct tension, using engine oil pressure to extend and automatically take up slack as the chain wears. This maintains accurate valve timing and reduces timing chain rattle.
