Handbrake Expander Assembly for the drum-type transmission (parking) brake mounted at the rear output of the transfer box.

The expander sits between the lower ends of the two brake shoes. When the handbrake lever is applied, cable movement drives the expander to force the shoes outward against the inside of the brake drum, locking the transmission output to hold the vehicle. It comprises the tappet and plunger mechanism that converts cable pull into shoe expansion.
