Description

Swivel Pin Housing for the front axle, the chrome-finished swivel joint on which the steering swivel and hub assembly pivot.

The housing bolts to the end of the axle case and encloses the front halfshaft and its constant-velocity joint. It pivots on an upper swivel pin running in a Railko bush (supplied with the housing) and a lower swivel pin and bearing, allowing the stub axle and hub to turn for steering.

The machined ball surface runs against the swivel oil seal; pitting or corrosion of this surface causes lubricant loss past the seal and is the usual reason for renewal.
