Description

Starter Bush Kit – the set of bronze bushes that support the armature shaft of the inertia-type starter motor (Lucas Type 2M100) used on 4-cylinder petrol engines.

The bushes locate in the drive-end and commutator-end brackets and carry the armature shaft, keeping the armature running concentrically within the field windings. Worn bushes let the armature run off-centre, causing drag and reduced cranking speed, so renewing them is a routine part of a starter overhaul.
