Description

Banjo Union – the hollow banjo bolt that secures the high-pressure feed hose to the power steering pump outlet.

It passes through the eye of the hose banjo fitting and threads into the pump body. Hydraulic fluid flows through the drilled centre of the bolt from the pump into the hose, so the union forms part of the pressure circuit itself rather than acting purely as a fastener; the bore and seat condition matter as much as the thread.

Sealing is by a bonded washer either side of the banjo eye – the companion sealing washer is RTC5675. Both washers should be renewed whenever the union is disturbed. Applies to the pump outlet union on both petrol and diesel power steering pump installations.
