Description

Glow Plug for the 2.5L six-cylinder BMW M51 diesel engine, screwed into the cylinder head as part of the cold-start pre-heat system.

The glow plug raises the temperature in the combustion chamber before and during cranking so that the injected fuel ignites reliably from cold. It is switched by the glow plug relay and stays energised for a short post-heat period after the engine starts.

One plug per cylinder – six per engine. Replacing all six together avoids the uneven cold starting caused by a mixed-age set.
