Primary Pinion for the LT76 manual gearbox, suffix D onwards. The primary pinion is the gearbox input gear, taking drive from the clutch and passing it into the gear train.

It meshes with the layshaft cluster to drive the mainshaft gears, forming the first stage of power transmission through the gearbox. This pinion is specified for the suffix D and later gearbox build.
