Description

Turbocharger Oil Drain Pipe – return line carrying lubricating oil from the turbocharger bearing housing back to the sump on the 2.5L Td5 five-cylinder turbo diesel engine.

Oil fed under pressure to the turbocharger bearings drains back through this pipe under gravity, so the line must stay unobstructed and correctly sealed at both ends. A blocked, kinked or leaking drain allows oil to back up in the bearing housing and pass the turbocharger seals, showing as oil in the intake tract, blue exhaust smoke and, in time, bearing failure.

Renew the sealing gaskets at both joints whenever the pipe is disturbed.
