Description

Handbrake Cable transmits lever movement to the transmission handbrake, the drum brake mounted on the transfer box rear output.

The outer sheath is anchored to the chassis mounting bracket while the inner cable runs from the handbrake lever relay to the operating lever on the drum backplate, applying the shoes against the drum when the lever is pulled up.

A stretched, seized or frayed cable is the usual cause of a handbrake that will not hold on a gradient despite correct shoe adjustment.
