M5 blind rivet nut (nutsert) – a threaded insert for sheet-metal and box-section fixings.
The nutsert is placed in a single drilled hole and set with a rivet nut tool, which collapses the body of the insert behind the panel to grip it and leaves a captive M5 female thread on the accessible face. It provides a serviceable threaded fixing point in thin material where there is no access to the reverse side to hold a nut.
In service the M5 blind rivet nut is used at bracket, clamp and clip fixings – mudflap mountings, air cleaner and hose clamp brackets, and pipe retaining points along the chassis rails. The insert is a consumable: once it has been drilled out it cannot be refitted, so replacements are normally bought in quantity when stripping a panel or a pipe run.
