Description

Differential Cover is the pressed plate that closes the differential aperture in the axle casing, retaining the axle oil and giving access to the crown wheel and differential unit without the axle having to come out.

It bolts to the machined face of the casing on a gasket and is common to the front and rear axle. This is the plain version, with no aperture in the plate.

The cover comes off first when crown wheel and pinion condition is being checked, and is worth renewing rather than refitting if the sealing flange has been distorted by over-tightening or damaged by grounding – a bowed flange will not seal against a new gasket.
