Description

Front Crankshaft Oil Seal for the M47 2.0L 16V and M57 3.0L diesel engines, sealing the crankshaft nose at the front of the engine.

The seal locates in the front cover and runs on the crankshaft sealing surface, retaining oil in the crankcase where the crankshaft passes out of the block to drive the timing chain and the auxiliary drive belt. It is renewed as a matter of course whenever the front cover, crankshaft pulley or timing drive is removed.

Check the crankshaft sealing surface for wear or grooving before fitting, and install the seal square to its bore at the specified depth.
