Description

Intercooler – the charge-air cooler in the induction system of the 300Tdi 2.5L four-cylinder turbo diesel engine.

Mounted in the airflow at the front of the vehicle, it takes the hot compressed air leaving the turbocharger and cools it before it reaches the inlet manifold. Cooler charge air is denser, which improves combustion and reduces thermal load on the engine.

It connects into the induction circuit through the charge-air hoses between the turbocharger outlet and the inlet manifold.
