Intermediate Gear for the LT230 transfer case gear train.

The intermediate gear is carried on the transfer case intermediate shaft and meshes with the input gear, transmitting drive to the front and rear output shafts. It carries the gear teeth for both high and low range, providing the ratio reduction selected by the range change mechanism.

A correctly meshed intermediate gear is essential to quiet, load-bearing operation of the transfer box; wear or damage here is a common cause of transfer case whine under load.
